What is Zaffe

The Lebanese Zaffe (زفة) is the traditional wedding procession that escorts the bride and groom into their reception. It blends rhythmic tabla and derbake drumming, classical Arabic vocals, dabke dancing and (where the couple chooses) flame and sword-bearers — culminating in one of the most emotional, goosebump-raising moments of the entire night.

DJ Micke coordinates Zaffe performances across Sydney for Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian, Iraqi, Egyptian and Assyrian weddings. As both the DJ and the entrance coordinator, the handover between the Zaffe troupe and the dancefloor is seamless — no awkward silence, no microphone shuffle, just one continuous wall of energy from the moment the doors open.
